English Language Requirements for Work Visas

While there are no specific English language requirements for work visa applicants, Immigration New Zealand expects a sufficient level of English to ensure applicants can perform their job duties.

This is assessed during the visa application process based on the employer’s requirements and job description.

English Language Requirements for Student Visas

Immigration New Zealand does not set English language requirements for student visas.

However, some education providers, especially at the tertiary level, may require a certain level of English proficiency before offering a place.
